We’ve seen many pollinators this year. One of our favorite is the zebra swallowtail butterfly. Asimina triloba is the sole host plant for the zebra swallowtail butterfly, Eurytides marcellus. The zebra swallowtail caterpillars feed exclusively on pawpaw leaves. The butterfly lays a single pale green egg on the underside of the leaves. It is a mandatory host relationship and planting pawpaws are essential to supporting zebra swallowtail butterflies.
